Electric Vehicle Fundamentals Course

There is renewed interest in electric vehicles due to the introduction of plug-in hybrid and battery electric cars to the market by major manufacturers (e.g., GM, Nissan, Mitsubishi).

In this course, members of the Electric Vehicle Council of Ottawa with decades of experience with electric cars, trucks, motorcycles, bicycles, boats, tractors, etc. will inform you about what electric vehicles are, how they work, differenty types and configurations, what is available and expected soon for purchase, doing a conversion, battery technologies, charging and much more.

Ontario invests $80 million in EV recharging

Seed money will fund electric car charging development

The Ontario provincial government announced it would set aside an $80 million fund to channel seed money to public and private companies who want to develop electric car recharging facilities.

Premier Dalton McGuinty is hoping this will encourage companies to draft proposals to build and test rechharging docks, and also to expand the availability of rechargers in the province.

e-Beetle Stops at Parliament Hill, Sept 1, 2010

E-Beetle at Parliament Hill

The "e-Beetle" ( http://ebeetle.ca/ ) is an electric car project from the University of British Columbia Electric Car Club. It drove through Ottawa on Sept 1, 2010, on it's quest to be the first Battery Electric Vehicle to drive across Canada.

EVCO members came out to 2 events on Aug 25, to see the Mitsubishi i-MiEV that is driving across Canada. One was at Bank Street Mitsubishi, and one was at my home.
